Born and raised in New York, Joey has been an entertainer at a very young age. By the time he was a freshman in high school, Joey has been in a number of bands performing in front of crowds. Upon graduating from College in 1983 he joined NYC law enforcement and was still performing every weekend and holiday in a dance party band. Later in 1986 – 2005, Joey performed in a number of wedding bands and formed a DJ company with a friend carrying many crates of vinyl records for countless weddings, private parties and clubs. After retiring from Law enforcement and moving to St Augustine FL in 2005, Joey continued his DJ business and opened Special Day Entertainment which he is now managing and doing full time. In 2007 Joey also opened Jacksonville’s first music rehearsal studio. Joey says, “Not many people get to do a job that they love, also I get to meet so many wonderful people at every event.

To help protect your investment on your most special day where you only have one time to do it right, here is some free advice.
1) Make sure that the DJ you hired is licensed and insured. You can ask them to produce the paperwork. (This will distinguish a real professional DJ from one who does this on the side)

2) What if the DJ is sick on your event or wedding day? What measures are taken? -- There should be an associate in which the hired DJ can call in a case of extreme emergency, tell the DJ you want the name of the back-up DJ and check his credentials. I have seen so many DJs cancel last minute.
3) Is the DJ a specialist for weddings? Can the DJ prove it with past wedding references? -- Have the DJ give you phone numbers of the most recent weddings, ask them how many weddings they do in a month. If you are not sure, definitely ask.
If you are looking for a DJ for something more important like a wedding or anniversary, may want to do some researching. Go to their website, check around for any reviews.....Big red flag, if they don't advertise their prices on their website, it is because they don't want to box themselves to a certain price when they can upcharge more.
