Ocean Blue & Sand Punta Cana Dominican Republic

I want to share with you a resort I had the pleasure of visiting: Ocean Blue & Sand Resort. This resort is located in the Bavaro area. The resort was a short ride from the airport roughly 30 minutes which provided an opportunity to see the city. Upon arrival we were ushered into the large open air lobby which houses the main bar and mingling area. We were then offered their signature drink "Ocean Blue" which was quite tasty. The check in process moved swiftly and we were escorted to our room by the concierge. The accommodations were roomy (Jr. Suite), however basic. The room was clean, and I was impressed with the toiletries provided by the hotel as they were in abundance and above the norm. The grounds were well manicured and scenic. The resort had all the amenities you would need at resort such as spa, fitness center etc. Entertainment was provided nightly with different themes. The beach was quaint with some erosion present, however a nice place to hang out. Ocean Blue & Sand is an all-inclusive resort, and there were several restaurants for you to enjoy from buffet to Ala ca rte. Reservations are not required and we were able to get in to most in a short amount of wait time. The trick to getting in without a wait is to dine at 6:00 PM. The later you dine the more people are arriving at the restaurants at the same time. Food quality was good. The pool areas are lively with lots of activity. The resort does allow local vendors to sell souvenirs on some evenings, and they tend to be aggressive, so you will have to watch out for this. You will also be invited multiple times to go to a time share presentation. The resort does offer wedding and banquet facilities for your special event. I would suggest doing your beach wedding ceremony either early or later in the evening, as the beach wedding location is not private. There is a garden gazebo area for weddings if you were wanting to avoid the beach. This resort is available at a moderate price point, and provides value for monies spent, however it does not compare to Sandals and Beaches Resorts. Overall this is great resort for the price point.
